OAKDALE, CALIFORNIA — Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Serenity Gathering is moving to Northern California for the first time on April 27-29th, 2018. The conscious-minded gathering will be taking place in Woodward Reservoir, the same iconic campground that hosted Symbiosis Gathering 2016. Interactive art, collaboration amongst creative souls, and a phenomenal selection of DJs and producers will come together for three days to manifest a celestial dreamscape for attendees to express boundless freedom and find collective serenity. The event organizers planned the gathering to coincide with the full moon rising in Scorpio, which symbolizes a time to embrace the possibilities of imagination.
Joining the ranks this year will include the psydub pioneer Ott., the electronic group Dirtwire (with David Satori of Beats Antique), and Australian bass aficionado Kalya Scintilla. Straight from the bay area, Zion I will be shaking the stage with hyphy beats and a lively hip-hop performance. Hailing from the east coast, contemporary rock band lespecial will join Zion I Crew for a unique synthesis of genre-blending jams. Serenity Gathering also promises another Secret Headliner, a legend in the world of bass music, as well as more artists to be announced in the coming weeks.
The festival reinvigorates its roots from SoCal as it invites back a Moontribe Full Moon Takeover with hosted by Desert Dwellers, who will enliven the dancefloor with their electronic prowess. Also planned is a very special tribute to Pumpkin, a beloved producer who ultimately passed away but whose remembrance still surges throughout the community. Serenity Gathering is known as the last festival that Pumpkin played at before he passed away, and during this year his legacy will be honored with a tribute featuring live music, DJ sets, painting and dance classes for folks of all ages.
In the past, Serenity Gathering has moved from place to place in Southern California, creating memories from Santa Barbara, to San Diego, and Joshua Tree. For this fifth year, the conscious gathering will fully embrace its new home of Woodward Reservoir, expanding the festival to include lakefront swimming, easy access, and a more comfortable climate. The gathering has worked with the local community to secure its spot for coming years and to allow for the possibility of expansion of attendees and of consciousness.
