MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Louis the Child’s 26th stop of their 34th date on the Euphoria tour was nothing short of a spectacular display of appreciation for music, community, and art. The future bass duo marked the second show back at the Armory in Minneapolis following venue restrictions due to COVID-19. Proper measures were taken to ensure safety in the packed house; vaccination cards or negative COVID test results were due at the door, giving a hopeful outlook for other MN venues looking to implement the same check-in structure.
This last stretch of the Euphoria tour featured openers Win + Woo and Whethan. Win + Woo brought forth a variety of house inspired pop remixes, while Whethan’s set was diverse in genres, featuring hit songs with future bass, and drum & bass fusions.

A short intermission built excitement for the headliner, as fans in colorful outfits packed the venue from rail to exits. Louis the Child’s set opened with a burst of color from visuals, as a low melodic hum crescendoed into a chiming steady tempo, before dropping into their hit remix “Blasé” (ft. Ty Dolla $ign, Future, and Rae Sremmurd). The duo hyped up the crowd, throwing their arms in the air and jumping around the stage, which featured a large glowing crown (their logo) at its center.
The blocky fractal visuals shifted into a solid pink for “Every Color” (Ft. Foster the People, DNMO remix). A layer of carefully choreographed lasers supported the following tracks “Love is Alive” (Meaux Green and B-Sides remix), “Fade away”, and “Keep on Moving” (with Nez, Ft. Theophilus London).
Louis the Child brought energy to the audience, asking them to sit on the ground, then jump as high as possible for the upcoming drop. In sync, the crowd leapt from the ground, jumping and swaying their arms to “Hate u cuz i don’t” (Ft. Bea Miller)”.
A dazzling array of red jellyfish and lanterns adorned the screen as the pair wrapped up the song “It’s Strange” (Ft. K.Flay), and began to make a short speech dedicated to appreciation of humble beginnings and love of the music community.

“All three of us shared a studio together in Chicago like years and years ago”, states member Robby Hauldren, speaking for the pair, paying homage to openers Win + Woo, and Whethan. “We made so much music there.” “It’s really cool to be able to tour together, this is the stuff we dreamed of in that time we had that studio together.”

He also stated their appreciation for The Chainsmokers, noting that the group brought them on tour back when they were 16 and 17, and that they were in attendance for the Armory show. Lastly, they ended their speech by thanking the audience, many of whom have held onto tickets to the event over the course of the past year’s struggle to hold live events.
“I hope it was worth the wait.” “It seemed like this mystical idea that it might happen and might not, and throughout the past year, sitting at home, we thought a lot about the kind of show we wanted to put on, what type of music we wanted to put out when we could come back together and do all this stuff again.”
The duo found themselves listening to the same kind of electronic music that made them fall in love with the genre, the very music that brought members Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett together.
“That’s the type of show we want to put on. That is fun, euphoric, happy, throw your hands up in the air type stuff, so if you felt that joy, that happiness, for even a second tonight, then we did what we set out to do.
Each and every one of you means so much to us, we cannot do this without you, we cannot live out our dreams every day without you, so make some noise for yourselves. And if there is anything you want to do with yourself, any dream you want to chase, go out and do it, I believe in you so much.”
Transitioning from their dedications into their hit “Free”(Ft. Drew Love), the music cut in and out, allowing the crowd to sing along with the track. “So what” (Ft. ARIZONA), “Better not” (Ft. Wafia), and “Sleep // Wake” closed the show; confetti cannons burst as movie credit style visuals rolled on screen, marking an explosive return of live music to the Twin Cities.
