FLAGSTAFF, AZ — Among the towering pine forests, open fields and mountain vistas of Playa Ponderosa, exists an intimate grassroots festival that brings together three days of eclectic art, music, yoga, and workshops. June Jam Music Festival released an initial “Phase One” lineup that created curiosity and absolute buzz in the festival community, as it didn’t feature any specific musical acts, but headliners such as “You,” “Your Friends,” and “Possibly An Ex”.
After I saw this hilarious lineup poster at another festival, I thought it was possibly a prank. I was intrigued and instantly wanted to learn more. I checked their website and noticed videos of previous years and lineups, which holy moly, was indeed very real and actually looked awesome. But I had to wait two and half grueling months to see the musical additions to their hilarious initial lineup. Well, after a not-so-long wait, here is their “Phase Two,” Lineup, which adds a choice selection of acts in addition to “5 billion stars” and “Fresh Mountain Air”.
Headlining this year’s June Jam is Kaya Project, a fun, bouncy, and psychedelic electronic and world music duo. Attya will come in to add some earthy, eerie, and rhythmic bass. The very talented electronic music producer Blockhead, will grace the stage with his funky, ambient trip-hop that has stormed the scene since the early 2000s.
As the initial lineup states, the music selection gives us prime options of house, bass, live bands, and global music to peruse. With other festivities like disc golf, theme camps, and stand-up comedy. Can’t wait for all the fun and shenanigans? June Jam will be throwing a pre-party with Desert Dwellers, Arctus, and Sound Slurp on April 29th at Walter Wherehouse in Phoenix.
