NEW ALBUM “SMILE :D” COMES OUT ON JULY 26, 2024
After releasing the viral music video for his new single Cheerleader, grammy-nominated artist Porter Robinson has sent waves throughout the internet again with his new single and music video, KNOCK YOURSELF OUT XD. His first two releases since Everything Goes On, a single he did in collaboration with the popular game League of Legends, these new tracks showcase Porter’s invigorated sound, reminiscent of his indie-pop / dance debut album Worlds, but with a pop-punk vocal twist and infusion of j-pop elements.
With melodic synth sound similar to indie electro bands like STRFKR, pop-like vocals and a drumline that nods to hyperpop and possibly even modern hip-hop, KNOCK YOURSELF OUT XD creates a unique blend that bears a signature of Porter Robinson’s innovative and euphoric soundscapes. Porter takes a new approach by starring in his two new music videos, the first of their kind that he’s released with his music. Branding himself as a huge anime fan and consumer of Japanese culture, Porter dons eccentric and colorful outfits, blasting angsty and emotional lyrics confidently as he dances unapologetically. With his new releases, Porter Robinson continues to evolve his music and create a sound that is instantly recognizable as his own.
On the Youtube release of KNOCK YOURSELF OUT XD, Porter Robinson commented about his upcoming album “SMILE :D” by saying:
“MY THIRD ALBUM “SMILE! :D” is coming out JULY 26th!! https://porterrobinson.com/ the album that I was TRYING to write was this nonstop party — NO sincerity, ALL fun, an album that revels in absurdity for a world that rejects context. And that was the plan until I accidentally started confessing how I was really feeling, and … you’ll hear the rest. my most fun, and maybe my most heartbreaking album i think it’s my most interesting work and I’m dying for you to hear it”
Porter also announced his “SMILE! :D” World Tour, which will feature over 70 shows touring all across North America, Asia, and Europe, with dates to be announced in Australia and South America as well.
Robinson is set to premiere an entirely fresh live production featuring a full live band as part of his “SMILE! :D” World Tour, following successful trials with the band setup at his packed Second Sky festival and later at Coachella’s main stage in 2023. Attendees can anticipate captivating performances from opening acts ericdoa in North America, underscores in Europe, and Galileo Galilei in Japan.
