What to Bring (& What Not To)

Festival Essentials & Tips

• Earplugs

These are a must. Hearing loss or tinnitus ain’t cute. These Loop Experience earplugs offer a stylish option in multiple metallic colors. Eargasm is another great option, which is sold at several prominent music festivals.

For a low budget option, try Hearprotek high fidelity earplugs, which protect sound quality, protect your hearing, and have a convenient carrying case all at a great price. Wrap the string through the carabiner and connect them to a necklace, bandana or facemask to ensure that you don’t lose them at the festival, even if they fall out while dancing.

Tent & Easy-up (if you’re camping)

Easy-ups and tapestries are a must, as they provide an extra layer of shade in the intense heat. Cheaper isn’t always better, especially for easy-ups. The high winds at Coachella could easily break the poles on a cheap easy-up, ruining your chill space at the festival. The ground is hard at Coachella, so don’t forget to bring a rubber mallet to pound in those tent stakes!

• Sleeping Options

Getting enough sleep can make the difference between having a blast, or wanting to go home by day two. Music goes late into the morning, so you’ll want earplugs. You will probably be catching some shuttey or taking micronaps during the day, because once the tent heats up in the morning, it is impossible to sleep.

Unless you plan on lugging in a lightweight hammock stand, hammocks are a no-go at Coachella, as there aren’t trees in the campgrounds.

You’ll want a comfortable, easily portable air mattress for sleeping at night and an inflatable couch to chill and nap on during the day. Ditch the bulky air mattresses that require air pumps, they usually are crappy and quickly get holes anyway. Plus, you’ll regret it when the air pump runs out of battery.

For chilling at the campsite during the day, I never go without a Chillbo Shwaggins. These things are way more comfortable than camping chairs and are more lightweight, easy to stuff in a backpack.

Instead of an air mattress, we reccommend an inflatable camping pad. They are more durable, are easy to carry, and inflate in a matter of minutes by breath alone. Temperatures can drop to the 50s or 60s at night, so you will also want a lightweight sleeping bag.

• Hydration Pack

The forecast is showing high 90s and even low 100s, so make sure to protect yourself and stay hydrated! We recommend a lightweight hydration pack so you can dance through the night and not get fatigued. If you plan on carrying your valuables in your hydration pack, we recommend the RaveRunner insulated anti-theft hydration pack.

If you’re not the hydration-pack type, we recommend that you use a carabiner to attach a reusable water bottle to a stylish festival fanny pack. This way, you can still move around with ease, but not worry about losing your water bottle in the crowd.

First Aid Kit, Electrolytes, Sunscreen, etc.

Don’t forget to dress for the heat and to bring lots of electrolytes, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses! Check out the Electric Feels Shop for more essential items.
